Pearls and Faux Pearls
Pearls are one of the favorite material for jewelry. Pearls have luster and shape that are very attractive and glamorous. When you shop for pearls, here are some words you need to know:
1. Pearl is a general term for every beads that are shaped and colored like natural pearls. Although many people use the word "pearl" loosely, according to FTC guide, pearl can only be used to describe natural sea pearl.
2. Cultured pearl is a term for pearl that are made with human intervention. These pearls include freshwater pearls which shells are bred in freshwater or sea shells.
3. Faux pearl. Faux pearl is another word for imitation pearl. These pearls can be made from glass, acrylic, plastic, or other material. Swarovski imitation pearls are made with swarovksi crystals in them.
